Menorca Cycle Routes

When it comes to cycling, Menorca is heaven on wheels. It seems almost tailor made, with everything from testing hill tracks and rugged woodland trails to flat easy roads. Plus, stunning natural scenery, low traffic, excellent signposting, and informational boards with clear route maps.
There are cycle routes to suit all levels, from beginners to two wheeled demons. Even a steep
road to the top of Menorca’s only mountain, Monte Toro (not recommended for beginners).
The Camí d’en Kane is a superb sight-seeing route by bike. This ancient and well preserved track runs through the picturesque heartland of the island, and takes you through the charming market towns of Mercadal and Alaior on the way. There are plenty of places to hire bikes if you’re not bringing your own.
And there are excellent organisations that will arrange group trips and cycling holidays.
In fact, cycling is so popular here that there are several associations and clubs, plus national and interna-
tional events on the cycling calen- dar; the VI Challenge Cicloturista a Menorca, the VI Ruta de los Faros (Lighthouse Route), the V Volta a Menorca en BTT and the VIII Volta International, all held throughout the year - some of these have become prestigious annual races attracting top cyclists from all over the world. So what are you waiting for? Get your helmet on, reach for those span- dex shorts, get on your bike and ride Menorca.

ancient ways, country roads, woodland trails and coastal paths make Menorca perfect for walking, rambling, hiking or even the more exerting activity of Nordic Walking (with poles) which is becoming
very popular. And thanks to its gentle climate and moderate rainfall, you can enjoy long country rambles,
healthy hilltop hikes and gentle evening strolls at any time of year. Amidst the wilder scenery of the northern coast or the gentler landscape of the south, there are walks to suit everyone.
The Cami de Cavalls (path of horses) is a medieval coastal and country path which surrounds the island, originally created to be followed on horseback. Currently being renovated, with some parts now open to the public, walkers of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to enjoy the many charms along its scenic route. If you favour four legs instead of two, the Menorcan landscape is also ideal for horse- back riding.
